hereditary and non hereditary cancer

Hereditary cancer are known as a type of inherited disorder in which there is a higher than normal risk of certain types of cancer. In hereditary cancer syndrome, certain patterns of cancer may be seen within families. On the other hand, sporadic cancer, which is a non hereditary cancer is cancer that occurs in people who do not have a family history of cancer. Watch the video to learn more!

HOW FAMILY HISTORY REALLY AFFECTS YOUR CANCER RISKS

For cancer to be passed on to the offspring, it requires the presence of a mutated gene(s). This mutated gene could be passed down to the offspring and become the cause of the development of cancer in the offspring. The presence of this mutated gene could be detected by performing a genetic test.
