There is no scarier disease in most people's minds than cancer. Cancer is commonly described as an incurable, unbearably painful disease with no cure. This view of cancer, while common, is exaggerated and over-generalized.
Cancer is unquestionably a severe and potentially fatal disease. However, it is a common misconception that all cancers are incurable and fatal. The reality is that there are many different forms of cancer, many of which can now be successfully managed to prevent, minimize, or slow the disease's impact on patients' lives. Although a cancer diagnosis may always leave patients feeling helpless and powerless, there is a reason for hope rather than hopelessness in many cases today.
Cancer
Cancer is the second leading cause of death worldwide, accounting for 9.6 million deaths in 2018, or one of every six deaths. Men's cancers include lung, prostate, colorectal, stomach, and liver cancer, while women's cancers include breast, colorectal, lung, cervical, and thyroid cancer.
